The 2026 International Conference on Biological Science and Public Health (ICBSPH 2026) was a hybrid conference which includes several symposium series (offline and online) around the world. Dr Sheiladevi Sukumaran from INTI International University has chaired the symposium series on related topics. ICBPSH 2026 provided the participants with good opportunities to exchange ideas and build networks, and it will lead to further collaborations between both universities and other societies.
Symposium Chairs: Dr Sheiladevi Sukumaran, Associate Professor in Inti International University
The symposium, “Beyond Calories: Food and Nutrition for Sustainable Health,” was held on 10 July 2026 and explored the importance of evaluating food beyond calorie content. The session emphasized that healthy eating depends on nutrient density, dietary balance, food quality, and long-term sustainability rather than energy intake alone.
Participants examined the differences between calories and nutrition and discussed how fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other minimally processed foods can support disease prevention and overall well-being. The symposium also addressed current global nutrition challenges, including the increasing consumption of ultra-processed foods, sedentary lifestyles, non-communicable diseases, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies.
Particular attention was given to the connection between human health and environmental sustainability. Participants learned how choosing seasonal and locally produced foods, reducing food waste, and increasing plant-based food consumption can benefit both personal health and the environment. Emerging topics such as precision nutrition, gut microbiome research, functional foods, and sustainable food systems were also introduced.
The symposium concluded with practical recommendations on mindful eating, reducing processed food intake, and prioritizing nutrient-rich foods. Overall, the session enhanced participants’ understanding of sustainable nutrition and encouraged them to apply healthier and more environmentally responsible dietary practices in their daily and professional lives.
The online session of the 2026 International Conference on Biological Science and Public Health (ICBSPH 2026) was held on June 10, 2026. Dr. Alan Wang from University of Auckland, Dr Sheiladevi Sukumaran from INTI International University, and Dr. Shi Hui Cheng from university of Nottingham, Malaysia have given keynote speech on related topics of biology and medical science, etc. Also, we invited authors of qualified papers to deliver oral presentations at the Online Session. The authors have presented their studies of biological sciences, biological engineering, food and public health, basic science of medicine, etc. Questions from the audience were collected and answered by the presenters.
